I was honoured to be sworn in as the new president
of Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce at the AGM
in November.
I am really relishing the role and looking forward
to working with Sara Williams and her team in
delivering world class support and representation to
you the members.
I’ll reiterate what I said in the last issue in that my
vision for the next two years is to continue the
excellent work done to date in repositioning the
Chambers and their value to members, to improve
engagement so that members get real value and to
ensure that the Chambers are the go-to business
support body in what is a very challenging period.
My first experience of the Chambers was as a new
member in 2004 with our start-up company, Reels
in Motion. If anyone would have told me I’d be
president 15 years later, I’d have laughed out loud.
However, our business developed and grew, and I
got what the Chambers was all about i.e. offering
support, guidance and advice as well as a platform
to meet all the fantastic and creative people who
now make up my network with whom I share ideas,
collaborate and work together to make Staffordshire
an even better place to work, live and play.
This issue features several articles on a finance
theme. If you have any other issues around finance
or anything else, please make sure you call the
Chambers and we can put you in touch with the right
person in the team or from our network of member
Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to
thank my predecessor, Paul Farmer who has been
inspirational in the role for the last three years.
Luckily for me, Paul is staying around for the next
twelve months as deputy president.
