Celebrating our 20th Anniversary
This is a landmark year for Stephenson Halliday as we celebrate
our 20th year in business. Mary and I are so proud of the
truly exceptional team we have at Stephenson Halliday who
all contribute to the success we have enjoyed over the years
and helped to establish us as one of the leading planning and
landscape consultancies, particularly in the realm of renewable
energy, mineral planning and sustainable development.
So much has changed over the past 20 years but what is clear is that the pace of change is set to accelerate
rapidly as we move towards the legally binding target of cutting greenhouse gas emissions to net zero by
2050 and 5 years earlier in Scotland by 2045. There is renewed political ambition to address the climate
emergency and with the UN Climate Change Conference (COP26) scheduled for Glasgow in November 2021
there is recognition of the urgent need for change.
This newsletter focusses on some of these rapidly growing sectors where Stephenson Halliday are actively
involved in project developments throughout the UK:
• Rapid expansion of large-scale solar development
• Growth of electrical charging facilities throughout the UK
• Growth of low carbon hydrogen production capacity
• Massive investment in the energy network
• Tremendous expansion in onshore and offshore wind
including the repowering of existing developments
• Rural diversification to support economic development
in rural areas including innovative proposals for the
restoration of mineral and waste sites.
We look forward to the next 20 years with great excitement as the challenges which lie ahead also bring huge
opportunities for positive change to encourage economic development and improve the way we live.
