T
HE SJI summer league
continued at Connell
Hill, Randalstown on

the top spot, coming first in

Unregistered jumping continues at Connell Hill
C
ONNELL Hill Equestrian Centre (Randalstown)
hosted another unregistered show for horses and
ponies on Saturday, August 6. Competitors really
enjoy that the classes start from cross-poles and run right
up to 1.30m for the more experienced.
There were those who were able to get their new ponies
around the smaller jumps, giving them that very important
confidence and show experience, while others had a few
horses in each class and wanted schooling over the bigger
jumps.
The Unregistered show will continue next week, but will
take a break the week after (August 20) as Dublin Horse
Show is running over that weekend. Keep an eye out on the
Connell Hill facebook page for more dates and online entry

Dengie-fed pony wins Healthiest
Body Condition Score Award
‘RUSHFIELD
Honey
Bee’,
who is fed Dengie Healthy
Hooves Molasses Free, won
the Horse Trust’s Healthiest
Body Condition Award in the
BSPS Heritage Mountain and
Moorland Open Lead Rein class
at the Royal International Horse
Show at Hickstead on Thursday,
July 28.
Lizzie
Finlayson-Briant’s
seven-year-old Dartmoor pony,
who was ridden superbly by
Freddie Finlayson-Briant and led
by his trainer Gayle Holder, was
proudly awarded the prestigious
Horse Trust’s Healthiest Body
Condition Award, an award
presented to a pony in the class
that is a healthy fat score and
not overweight.
“Winning this award was the
highlight for me,” explained
owner Lizzie, who recently
did a webinar with Dengie on
feeding the native pony from
breeding to showing. “Dengie
Healthy Hooves Molasses Free
combined with regular exercise
helps to keep my ponies fit
and a healthy weight. Keeping
them at a healthy fat score is
top of our priority list, but can
be challenging especially with
natives. Winning this superb
accolade is reward for all the
hard work that Freddie puts in,
I couldn’t be prouder.”
“At Dengie, our research
sadly demonstrates that there
is still a significant proportion
of the equine population
that is overweight,” explains
Katie Williams, M.Sc. (Dist) R
Nutr, Technical and Product
Development Manager at Dengie
Horse Feeds. “Many factors
contribute to the problem, but

this brilliant initiative from
The Horse Trust rewards those
who produce show horses and
ponies at a healthy weight.”
‘Rushfield Honey Bee’ is
fed Dengie Healthy Hooves
Molasses Free, a low calorie,
sugar and starch high-fibre
feed with a light oil coating
for healthy skin and a lovely
showring shine, which clearly
worked in this case! It is the
perfect feed for achieving the
balance between health and
results.
