Summer Dressage League
attracts a great turnout for
North Coast Riding Club
N
ORTH Coast
Riding Club
held the
final of their
Summer
Dressage League at
Eglinton Equestrian
Centre on Sunday,
August 28. The
club was delighted
with the turnout of
competitors each
week, as this was
a new competition
for 2022 and will
certainly be on the
schedule in coming
years.
A special mention
goes to Drenagh
Sawmills, Windyhill
Farm Supplies
and KiIlmaconnell
House Stables for
their generous
sponsorship and
also to Eglinton
Equestrian centre
for the use of the
facilities and kind
hospitality.
In the Junior Intro
class, competition
was friendly but
fierce between the
two league leaders,
Kaitlyn O’Brian

Dawn McAllister (second); Tommy Millar, Club Chairman; Lorraine
Gibson (first) and judge, Geraldine Lowry. (FW35-560NN)
with ‘Missy’ and
Alice Duddy with
‘Izzy’, both new
competitors with
North Coast Riding
Club this year.
Kaitlyn and ‘Missy’,
however, were the
league winners,
despite Alice and
‘Izzy’ taking the
class win on the final
day. Kaitlyn went

Summer Dressage League. (FW35-564NN)
on to be the league
winner for Prelim
class one also, one
of the few juniors
to compete in this
class.
Lorraine Gibson
and ‘Maisy’ were
consistent each
week of the league
to claim the Senior
Intro class title,
one of the largest
classes. This was a
special achievement
for Lorraine, as she
has only started to
compete in Dressage
with ‘Maisy’ this
year; organisers
are looking forward
to seeing Lorraine
move up through the
classes in the future.
Debbie Allen
riding ‘Rose of
Gethsemane’ was
the league winner of
the second Prelim
class. Debbie had a
clean sweep, where
the combination
had won the class
each week they
had entered. This
combination were
also the winners
of the Open class,
with Jane Smith and
‘Squirrel’ placing
second, despite this
being the first league
where Jane and
‘Squirrel’ moved up
to Novice.
The club would like
to thank each and
every competitor
who competed at
the league, some
fabulous comments
were written by
the judges and the
standard of horse
and rider turnout
was amazing.
The effort of
competitors and
their grooms does
not go unnoticed
by the judges and
committee at North
Coast Riding Club
and organisers are
delighted to see
so many new faces
enjoying the club
competitions.
The next Dressage
Day at Eglinton is on
Sunday, October 16
- more information
