Tattersalls International Horse Trials
- celebrating the story so far...
T
HIS year should have seen the 15th running of the
Tattersalls International Horse Trials and Country Fair
from May 27-31, had the event not had to be cancelled
due to the current global pandemic. Over the years, the
event has become one of the most prestigious in the
world, attracting top international competitors, as well as up
and coming prospects from closer to home.
Tatts is very popular with both competitors and spectators
from the Northern Region and large numbers would have been
making the journey to Ratoath, Co. Meath to enjoy the event in
the glorious sunshine last weekend.
In the absence of results and photos for this year, here are a
selection of photos from previous years to remind everyone of
the fantastic cross-country course and the great successes that
Northern Region riders have experienced at Tatts...

TATTS DEBUT: Daniel Brown had his first ride
at Tatts in 2009, picking up a rosette in the

CONSISTENT: Izzy Riley and ‘Ballycarron Lad’
came second in the Junior class at Tatts in
2016 and third in 2017. (FW23-536AH)
STYLISH: Tegan White-McMorrow and ‘Texan
Style’ were best of the Irish in the CCI3* at
Tatts in 2017. (FW23-539AH)
WELL DONE: Fionn Clarke and ‘Black Velvet
Band’ winning at Tatts in the Junior class in

PARTNERSHIP: Jim Newsam and ‘Magennis’,
pictured at Tatts in 2012, went on to compete
at many of the top international events.

ON FORM: Ella Boyle and ‘Catriona’
finished fourth in the Junior class
at Tatts in 2016 and went on to
compete in the European Junior
Championships in Italy in the same

GOOD FINISH: Suzanne Hagan and
‘Carneyhaugh Conquistador’ leap off
the Irish Field bank at Tatts in 2010,
where they came seventh in the
CIC3*W class. (FW23-546AH)
TOP FORM: Jayne Doherty and
‘The Only One’, here pictured in
the CCI3* class in 2015, retired at
the top as Irish champion shortly
afterwards. (FW23-537AH)
STARTING OUT: ‘Euro Prince’, pictured starting
out on his three-day eventing career here in the
1* class at Tatts in 2010, would go on to take
his rider Clare Abbott to Badminton, Burghley
and the Olympic Games. (FW23-528AH)
FLYING: June Burgess and ‘Olive Oyle’ went
well at Tatts in 2009 in the CCI1* class.
