Time to shine up Hagans Croft’s centre line
S
ATURDAY,
February 11
saw clear
skies as the first
competitors turned
down the centre
line at Hagans Croft
for the Intro class.
It was great to see
a variety of horse
and riders within
this Intro class,
with some on board
their young horses
and for some it was
their first dressage
competition.
It was a red ribbon
winning day for
local lady Mandy
Blakely and her
mare ‘Frankie’
gaining 74.17%; this
is a very promising
start to this young
mare’s career and
organisers look
forward to seeing
how this partnership
progresses. It was
blue for the second
week in a row for
Amira Greeves and
‘Lily’ with their score
of 72.5%; this pair
have a wonderful
partnership and
organisers hope they
continue to shine up
the centre line each
week of this fiveweek league.
In the Newcomers
class, Abbie
Cummins did it
again for a second
week in row. With
68.4%, she bagged
the red rosette for
‘Cassie’ and herself,
receiving some
great comments
NOVICE: Sarah Irvine and ‘Harry’ won the
Novice class at Hagans Croft. (FW07-571NN)
from judge Jacky
Reid: ‘Super forward
thinking little mare
with lots to like’.
Organisers wait
with baited breath
to see if they can
make it a hat trick
next Saturday.
Eleanor Wheeler and
‘Casper’ finishing in
a close second place
with 65.8%.
It was a great day
at the office for Clare
Steele in the Prelim
class, where both
her horses placed in
the top two placings.
First was ‘Jack’ and
second was ‘Penny’,
both scoring 72%
and above. The
judge’s comments
included: ‘Super
horse and very
talented, pleasure to
watch’.
The top two
placings in the
Novice class were
hotly contested,
with just over two
points separating
first and second
placings. However,
the red rosette went
to Sarah Irvine on
‘Harry’, saluting to
a score of 71.9% and
the blue rosette went
to Reese Hogg and
‘Smythy’ for their
score of 69.66%.
Both girls went
on to compete in
the Elementary
class, where they
were tested on
their ‘shoulder in’
movements. This
time, the placings
were reversed,
as the red ribbon
went to Reese Hogg
and ‘Smythy’ with
72.69% and the blue
ribbon went to Sarah
Irvine and ‘Harry’
with 70.19%. Great
sportsmanship was
shown and words
of encouragement
given between these
two competitors.
Well done!
Unfortunately,
there were no entries
for the Medium test,
so the day came
to a close after the
Elementary tests
were completed.
Hagans Croft
would like to thank
everyone who
supported the
second week of their
five-week Dressage
League. Thanks are
extended to judge
Jacky Reid, scribe
Katie and all the
stewards for making
the event run so
smoothly. This
event is pre-entry
only, with entries
taken via Hagans
Croft’s website:
www.haganscroft
equestrian.co.uk or
you can download
and enter through
the Hagans Croft

each Thursday
at 8pm prior to
Saturday’s event
and start times are
posted online on
Thursday evenings.
