Author receives rave reviews
for racy debut novel
SAMANTHA Mattocks, editor
and owner of the awardwinning publication The Arabian
Magazine, has published her
debut novel, Sandstorm.
Set in the exciting and
mysterious world of the Arabian
horse, against the heady
backdrop of the mystical Middle
East, Sandstorm is a racy read
that grips the reader from the
very first page galloping, as it
does, through the Arabian horse
show circuit.
Even if Arabian horses are
not your thing, the characters
have more than enough going
on outside the show-ring to
keep you turning the page,
following them as they travel
across Europe and the Middle
East all after the same thing championship glory, sex, and,
ultimately, love.
With twists and turns aplenty,
Sandstorm will thrill those who
love the books of Jilly Cooper.
“Sandstorm has been a long
time in the making,” says
Samantha Mattocks of her debut
novel. “To me, the characters
remain as engaging as they first
did when I wrote the scenes a
few years ago, but I guess we
all need something to push us
into doing something outside

our comfort zone. For me, it
was Lockdown, which presented
an unavoidable opportunity to
finish my novel and finally get it
published. I have had so many
requests from friends wanting to
read it during these challenging
times, so it is lovely to be able
finally put it out there.”
Based in Norfolk, Samantha
has bred Arabian horses with
her family all her life and she
first began work on Sandstorm
in the 2000s, during her own
travels around the world for
her specialist award-winning
publication, The Arabian
Magazine. Her unique insights
into this world are now shared
through the pages of Sandstorm.
