in Markethill on Saturday,
August 3, continued to sell
in a very strong trade in all
rings.
Heifer Ring
A large entry of 250 store
heifers sold in an excellent
demand with good quality
heavy heifers selling steadily
from £190-£224 per 100kg
paid for a 570kg CH at £1275
from a Crossgar farmer. A
508kg LIM from a Comber
producer sold at £1135 (223)
and a Keady farmer received
£216 per 100kg for a 608kg
BB at £1315. Several heavy
heifers sold from £1300 to a
top of £1435 paid for a 660kg
CH from a Crossgar farmer.
Good quality mid-weight
heifers sold from £190-£220
per 100kg for 432kg CH at
£950 from a Keady farmer,
followed by £218 per 100kg
for a 460kg CH at £1005 from
a Keady producer.

Another large entry of
suckler cows sold in a very
rm demand to £1760 for
a Lim cow and heifer calf,
followed by £1600 for a SIM
cow and heifer calf. Several
more outts sold from £1200
to £1600 each.
RATHFRILAND
A larger entry of cattle on
Friday with dropped calves
and bullocks all increasing
in numbers. Bullocks
again topped at £1200 for a
Banbridge farmer. Heifers
sold to £930 for a 490k BB
from a Hillsborough farm.
Good heifers sold from
190p to 200p per kilo. IN the
weanling section, £900 was
obtained twice for a 450k Lim
from Poyntzpass and a 490k
from Aughlisnan. Dropped
calves were a tremendous
trade with a pen of Hereford
males from Seaforde to £385.
A large pen of BB and Angus
females from Scarva sold to
£365 twice. An Angus heifer
from Sean sold at £355. The
fat cows were 90% Holstein
selling to £765 for 680k.
Suckler heifers and calves
sold to £1080 for a Ballykeel
farmer.

SHEEP AT CO-OP
There was an improved
trade on Tuesday evening
especially in the lamb
section. The top pence per
kilo of 421 with the small
light lambs all selling at over
£4.00 per kilo.
While £100 was paid for
ram lambs from a
Sainteld farm, the fat
lambs topped at £84 for a
Kilkeel farmer. A large entry
of fat ewes and rams cleared
up to £118 for a Bryansford
farmer.
