Dressage Divas at Craigantlet Riding Club
C
RAIGANTLET Riding Club started the
New Year with the first of its dressage
competitions. There was a tremendous
turnout for what is a relatively small club,
with classes at Intro, Prelim and Novice levels.
Judge for the night was Stephen Murphy,
ably assisted by his good lady Jacqueline, as
scribe.
The Intro class was won by Cheryl Gillham,
who rode a lovely test on ‘Zara’. The Prelim
IN THE RIBBONS: Intro and Prelim prize winners at the Craigantlet Riding Club dressage
competition. (FW04-541NN)
NOVICE: Right, The line up of prize winners in
the Novice class at the Craigantlet Riding Club
dressage competition. (FW04-542NN)
class was a very competitive event, with 14
competitors giving Stephen quite a task to
separate. Taking the honours was Karina
McVeigh with the consistent ‘Cheyenne’,
closely followed by Megan McOuat and
Michelle Hagan in joint second. Fourth place
was Keeley Hopkins, fifth went to Anna Dunlop
and sixth to Ellie Miskelly.
The Novice class had three competitors,
who produced three lovely tests. With only
a few marks separating the riders, first place
went to Judith Bankhead on ‘Polly’, followed
by Jacky Reid and Hannah Wilding.
It was lovely to see so many members
competing, and especially to see so many
new members - you are all very welcome to
the club! It was encouraging too, to see the
positive effect of the excellent training that
the club has been running in the months prior
to Christmas, resulting in folk moving up
levels and riding lovely tests.
Craigantlet Riding Club would like to thank
Stephen and Jacqueline for judging, David
Patterson for doing the maths and Caroline
McVeigh for the use of the schools at Birr
House.
A full programme of events and training is
now available on the club website.
