OTANICA
International Ltd is a name
well-known in equestrian circles in
Northern Ireland, but
enterprising proprietor Sean
Cooney ships his products
much further than these
shores! From their Warrenpoint base, the company
sends products as far away
as Australia - but wherever
they are used, the feedback
is the same... Customers love
Botanica products, whether
for themselves, their horses,
their dogs - or even their
elephants!
Rosie Alcorn BVSc MRCVS
from Coastal Equine Vets
had this to say: “I thought
you guys should hear about
a case that we used Botanica
on. Last year, I was called
to stitch a horse with a
WOUND: This horse had a
massive wound on his face,
which required stitching and
stapling. (FW10-522NN)
WELL-KNOWN: Botanica proprietor Sean
Cooney is a familiar face at shows.
(FW10-533NN)
massive wound on his face it was stitched and stapled,
but we knew it was going
to break down - and that’s
where Botanica came in. As
we thought, it broke down
around day seven.
“I’ve always used Botanica
on wounds, but this was a
big one. We monitored the
horse’s SAA (serum amyloid
A) for level of infection
and it remained low; every
bandage change, we applied
mountains of cream and
every time we came back
to it had always improved.
We used it as a barrier
cream once we removed the
bandages.
“I didn’t know whether to
send you the photos, but I
think credit where credit’s
IMPROVING: With the help
of Botanica, the horse’s
wound improved each time
the bandage was changed.

due,” Rosie concluded.
The photos of this horse’s
injury and healing speak for
themselves.
Botanica customer Becca
Cameron said: “We had a foal
that got his leg caught in a
fence and had two cuts down
to the bone on his pastern
and hock. Weeks worth of box
rest and bandage changes
twice a day, lots of antibiotics
and pain killers, he has come
right and is perfectly sound.
“We used Botanica products
while he was recovering from
his injury. We used the herbal
cream on his wounds and the
6-in-1 spray to keep his coat
healthy. Thanks to Botanica
products, the foal’s leg
healed beautifully and he did
not need to be put to sleep!
HEALED: Now healed, there is
little evidence of the extent of
the injury. (FW10-524NN)
Amazing results.”
Jean Higgins, a customer
from Brisbane, Australia, also
loves Botanica products: “I
bought the itch pack for my
gelding, who’s been plagued
since being a yearling with
QLD Itch. We’ve tried just
about everything, including
steroid injections and creams. Used the wash and
cream last year and again
this year, with amazing
results. Highly recommend
this pack.”
Andrea Richardson, who
rides side saddle, said of
Botanica: “Absolutely the
best products on the market
for equines - I adore the
herbal healing cream - treats
EVERYTHING! Another favourite is the no-rinse wash
- smells divine and very
soothing. Top marks.”
Botanica products aren’t
just good for horses, as dog
groomer Kelly Beresford
stated: “Met these guys
at Crufts and absolutely
love the range. I own a dog
grooming salon and my
doggies love their clean faces
after a herbal wash! I also use
the spray on doggies with
dandruff and skin problems,
all with amazing results.”
Abbie Henderson was so
impressed with Botanica
that she left the following
customer testimonial: “I have
used the skin healing cream
and cleansing wash on my
mare after getting her hock
caught in a fence. These
photos are all two days
apart with bandage changes.
First photo and last photo
are three weeks apart. Both
myself and vet are amazed at
how quickly this cream and
wash has aided her healing.
Really is amazing stuff!”
Katy Ewing of Kae Equestrian is a British show
jumping athlete and a UKCC
Level 2 coach. She said: “
I use the cleansing wash
alongside the anti-itch cream
for my Welsh D. She started
scratching in 2020. She had
bald patches
and raw skin and after
numerous visits from the vet
and recommendations for
different lotions and potions,
costing me a fortune.
“I came across Botanica at
a show. I spoke to them and
took their advice. Her bald
patches cleared up and she
is much more comfortable.
Have
continued
regular
treatment.”
Perhaps the biggest challenge that Botanica has faced
is in treating elephants! Alan
Roocroft, the world’s leading
expert on elephants and
Gerry Creighton, Operations
Manager at the world famous
Dublin Zoo have been treating their elephants with
Botanica’s Natural Herbal
Cream.
Of course, Botanica also
cater for humans, with a
range of very popular skin
creams, which have also
received fantastic positive
feedback.

that
even the Royal family use
them and they are just as
impressed as everyone else in fact, Her Late Majesty The
Queen granted Botanica the
Royal warrant last year.
It is great to see a local
company doing so well on
a global scale - keep up the
good work!
