Suffolk breeders
reflect on another
successful year
T
HE NI Branch of the Suffolk Sheep Society celebrated another successful
year with its annual dinner dance and presentation of awards at
Killymoon Golf Club, Cookstown.
Members of the NI Branch once again made their mark at home and
abroad during 2017 and that was reflected in the glittering array of prizes that
were presented on the night.
Chairman of the NI Branch Geoffrey Douglas reviewed the highlights and
successes of its members in 2017. The presentation of awards was then made
by Geoffrey and Branch Secretary Orla Butler.
WELL DONE: Gary Beacom picked up trophies for Best ram Lamb, Male
Champion and Supreme Champion at the Premier Show, Reserve Champion
Northern Ireland Branch Championships and NI Sire of the Year.
BEST: Philip and Jill Gurney picked up trophies for best pen of ewe lambs
in the Northern Ireland Branch Flock competition and the breeder with the
highest priced ram lamb sold into a commercial flock.

NOVICE: Martin and Orla Butler picked up trophies for
the Novice cup at the Premier Show, Reserve Champion
Flock in the Northern Ireland Branch Flock Competition,
they also collected trophies on behalf of their son Eoin for
Young Handler and their daughter Eimear for stock judging
at the Branch Championships.
SUPREME: Lesley and Michelle Liggett picked up trophies for
Supreme Champion and 1st prize pair of lambs at Omagh sale.
RIGHT: Jack Moses collecting his award for Supreme Champion,
Rathfriland sale.
