HORSEWEEK

FEBRUARY 16 2023
ILDRA holds Charity Ride at Tollymore
Forest in aid of the Veloo Foundation
I
LDRA
(Irish
Long
Distance
Riding
Association)
headed
to
Tollymore
Forest
Park near Newcastle
on February 12 for a day of
pleasure riding to help raise
funds for Charlotte Moore’s
participation in the ‘Gobi
Gallop’, in aid of the Veloo
Foundation.
Pleasure riders enjoyed
the
unseasonably
mild
conditions for the time of
year - with hardly any wind at
the summit of the forest park!
Riders and their mounts
were treated to meandering
pathways along the River
Shimna before beginning to
climb the trails of Tollymore,
leading to spectacular views
along the summit. Eagleeyed riders may have spotted
some wildlife along the way,
including
red
squirrels,
buzzards and jays in the

order to raise funds for the
Veloo Foundation. The Veloo
Foundation has established
and runs kindergartens and
summer camps to support
very disadvantaged children,
whose families exist by
scavenging on the rubbish
dump at Mongolia’s capital
city. It has recently opened
a community library and is
developing a sewing centre
to
produce
eco-friendly
garments. Further options to
support the project include
a table quiz, which has
been arranged for Saturday,
March 4 at 7.30pm in Glenavy
Methodist
Church
Hall.
Proceeds will be donated to
the Veloo Foundation. Online
donations can be made
at

Stallion Show and
Equine Expo at Cavan
CAVAN Equestrian Centre will host its annual Stallion
Show and Equine Expo on Sunday, March 26 at 11.30am.
Last year, Cavan held its first Stallion Show after covid
and the very positive feedback from Stallion owners and
Exhibitors was phenomenal. With a huge attendance,
business was brisk during the day, with enormous
interest in both Stallions and equine-related products.
With the industry on a high and trading very strong and
being the perfect time of year for Studs and Breeders
to exhibit Stallions with the season just about to get
underway, what better timing for this Show?
Merging both the Stallion Show and the Equine Expo
makes this a one-stop-shop for breeders, while also
appealing to the many horse enthusiasts. Owners, if it
is not practical for you to take your Stallion along to the
Show or if you have more Stallions, then a Trade Stand
would be a terrific option. Along with Brochures and
Videos, you can also promote A.I. and semen services.
Breeders have the opportunity to wander from one trade
stand to another and discuss options, prices and what
is on offer. Stallion owners wishing to enter a stallion
should call the Centre on 00 353 (0)49 4332017 for an
entry form or go online www.cavanequestrian.com
The Equine Fair will be an extremely important part of the
Show and, with Trade Stands being a powerful marketing
tool, it will be a wonderful place to promote your business
from stallions to stabling, fencing to feeds, trucks to
trailers, stable bedding to arena surfaces and all other
equine accessories. To avail of this fantastic opportunity
to advertise your product, please book as soon as
possible to avoid disappointment. Contact the centre at
00 353 (0)49 4332017 or email: info@cavanequestrian.
com for more information.
Why not make a day of it and enjoy a meal in Boomerangs
Restaurant and a relaxing drink in Snaffles Bar, while
enjoying a spectacular equine event?
