ABP marks 21 years at Balmoral Show
T
HE award-winning beef and lamb
processor ABP, is marking 21 years
at the Balmoral Show with an actionpacked four days. ABP’s commitment to
the show has grown over two decades to
what has become a key calendar event for
the company to be able to meet and greet
thousands of its farmer-suppliers.
Following the success of last year’s
partnership with the leading local
commercial radio broadcaster Downtown/
Cool FM, ABP has renewed its commitment
with the station. Live broadcasts from the
show will be aired throughout the four days
across Downtown/Downtown Country and
CoolFM.
At Balmoral Park, the Downtown Radio
Show Stage in association with ABP will be
showcasing a range of live music acts, with
Derek Ryan in this year’s line-up along
with an array of local talent.
Commenting on ABP’s plans for Balmoral,
Managing Director of ABP in Northern
Ireland George Mullan said: “From our
Newry and Lurgan sites, we partner with
thousands of farmers across the Province
to supply farm quality-assured beef and
lamb to leading retailers and restaurants.
The show gives us the opportunity to
support all that is good about our locally
produced food and rural life.

mix of urban and rural dwellers. This is
strengthening consumers’ connection
with food production which is a positive

As part of 21 years at Balmoral, ABP will
be marking its successful community and
education partnerships. ABP is the only
meat processor affiliated to the HSENI
Farm Safety Partnership. Guests to the
ABP stand can expect to see its islandwide commitment to the promotion of farm
safety.

Belfast Academical Institution and Wallace
High School will be presented with their
own ABP Blade Angus cross calves in front
of a public audience and the media.
As the 2019 competition finalists, they will
then rear their calves through to finishing
and share in the net profit at sale to ABP
as well as take part in an 18-month skills
development programme with ABP and the
Northern Irish Angus Producer Group.
