HE Ulster Ram Breeders’ Association
held its 5th Blackface In Lamb Female
Sale on Monday, February 8, in
Ballymena Livestock Mart, selling 45
out of 47 entered, averaging 1382gns,
proving to be a very successful sale for all.
Patrick and John Harkin, Loughash, received
the top price of 6200gns on the night for a
two-crop Lanark ewe by 24k Crossatt, sire
of dam 24k Elmscleugh, scanned twins by
38k Dalchirla (Dalmally 2020) selling to G & I
Davidson, Gleno.
Charlie and Cathal Harkin, “The Rock”,
Loughash, received 4500gns for a gimmer
by 20k Auldhouseburn, sire of dam 24k
Elmscleugh, scanned single by Top Secret
(share sold privately).
Closely following was a gimmer from Charlie
and Christine Phillips, Finglen, sire son of 45k
Midlock, scanned twins by 22k Dalchirla, made
4200gns.
James Hunter, Glenarm, headed up the Perth
prices of the night receiving 3700gns for a twocrop, sire son of 2.5k Sam Adams, scanned
single to 1.4k Alan Petrie, selling to Francie and
Rachel Houston, Rostrevor.
Mark and Russell Smyth, Coleraine, got
1500gns for a three-crop, sire Robin, scanned
twins by 7.5k Sam Adams. Followed by Craig
Carmichael, Dungiven, getting 1350gns for
two-crop, sire 2017 Cam Champion, scanned
twins by 5k Cam.
