Message from our
Executive Director
2016 was an action-packed year for The Brokerage,
as we celebrated our 20th anniversary as a charity.
Alongside the celebrations and reflections, we also took a
long, hard look at what we want to achieve in the future.
Our new vision is:
Bridget Gardiner
Executive Director
A world where a young person’s ability and aspiration alone determine their
career path.
It would be good to think that in 2036 The Brokerage no longer needs to work to
achieve this vision.
Meanwhile, I am pleased to report that we have made significant progress with our
2016-19 strategic aims. We continue to strengthen our programmes and are
focusing on measuring the difference we make to the lives of young Londoners on
the one hand and to the diversity and inclusiveness of the corporate workplace on
the other.
I hope you enjoy reading about our achievements over the past 12 months. A key
highlight of 2016 for me was this comment from a Year 6 student attending St.
Agnes Primary School in Tower Hamlets at a City Careers Open House workshop at
CFC Underwriting:
“It was the best day ever!”
This young girl’s eyes were opened to a world she did not know existed. We’ve seen
so many of these lightbulb moments in our young people this year and it’s a
privilege to help them build their aspirations, skills and knowledge.
Thank you to all our partners - corporates, schools, volunteers and not-for-profit
organisations - for your support. We look forward to working with you all in 2017!
