Social Mobility 101 Workshop
Social mobility; what is it? Why does it matter? And what can your organisation do about it? In this
introductory interactive workshop for employees in your business we go into detail about social
mobility, exploring questions such as:
How does a person’s socioeconomic background or ‘class’ affect the kind of job they do later in
life?
Once in the workplace, how does this play out in terms of retention and progression?
How do issues such as gender and ethnicity relate to class?
What can employers and colleagues do to help address these issues?
As well as planning, delivering the session and facilitating discussion we will also provide follow-up
in the form of a key takeaways document.
It was great to have a specific session on social mobility, and lots of takeaways and areas to think
about as we develop our wider Equity, Diversity and Inclusion plans across Fundraising and the
organisation.

Changemaker Audit
Drawing on insights gathered from our 25 year history of working with young people and employers,
The Brokerage’s Changemaker Framework covers 6 key aspects of diversity, equity and inclusion
with a focus on early talent and social mobility/ethnic diversity. As part of our Changemaker Audit,
we will conduct a full review of your current practices and processes against this Framework (which
was devised via direct input and insights from corporates and young people) and provide you with a
report highlighting areas of strength and making recommendations for next steps in the
organisation’s diversity and inclusion journey.
The 6 parts of the framework include data collection, learning and development, attraction,
recruitment, retention, and accountability. As part of the Audit we will:
Analyse relevant company publications (if any) such as gender pay gap reports or diversity and
inclusion policies.
Conduct interviews with key staff including HR and your Senior management team exploring
different aspects of the Framework.
Deliver a report highlighting areas of strength and recommendations for next steps.
