THE PAINT FACTORY, 115 HYDE ROAD, YERONGA
1.3
The Future a living arts village
115 Hyde Road has gradually become an artistic precinct
where creatives share their love of producing, crafting,
inventing and expressing. The site is often used for educational
and mentoring purposes, with locals and guests from around
the world attending these sessions.
Many places try – and fail – to build in or manufacture
an artistic character or reputation. The Paint Factory’s
pedigree has developed organically to the point where it
enjoys considerable art sector and commercial enthusiasm,
support and participation, often at the highest levels.

The Paint Factory’s open, flexible spaces allow for a
hybridity and diversity of workflow while offering spaces for
collaboration. High ceilings, good floors and solid, flat surfaces
support heavy equipment. Ground floor entries allow for larger
vehicle access. Combining all of this with a mix of utilitarian
outdoor and indoor spaces, plus good city proximity, makes
the site’s growth as a creative arts precinct logical.
By taking a further step now we can shape The Paint Factory
as a place that blends cultural and creative industries with
housing – integrating and capitalising on the benefits of
both for the immediate users and residents and for Brisbane
more broadly.
