Engaging with the community
Over the past seven to eight years, The Paint Factory team has
sought to involve local stakeholders in the future of the precinct.
With the assistance of stakeholder engagement professionals,
the team has implemented an extensive and sustained
community engagement program, involving near neighbours,
Brisbane City Council, local business owners, Yeronga and
Fairfield residents and Australia’s arts and creative industries.

While assessing prospective new uses, the team has carried

with residents and artists, the concept of a formalised
integrated arts village, with a blend of arts, retail and
residential, was developed. This was further tested with the
local community and other stakeholders, with the success of
the organic arts movement underpinning the current direction
to progress a sustainable and viable mixed-use precinct.

space of time, it has developed a legendary
status within the Australian art scene.”
The stakeholder engagement program identified the key
stakeholder interests, aspirations, and general feedback.
