Our ongoing research with the University of Reading has demonstrated that the
way we teach history at Ufton creates a deeper and longer lasting understanding
of the past. It also develops a range of other skills and behaviours including
teamwork, problem solving and increases independence.
“The combination of an evocative setting, together with carefully crafted
activities taught using an outdoor pedagogy, allows children to develop a
stronger (and more easily recalled) knowledge of the past, and deeper
understanding of people and events in the past.”
