Celebrate Christmas at Windsor Castle
This Christmas, the State Apartments at Windsor Castle will be
transformed with a magni昀椀cent festive display to celebrate the 675th
anniversary of the Order of the Garter – the oldest order of chivalry
in Britain.
In St George’s Hall, beneath the ceiling studded with the badges of
the Knights of the Garter, a splendid 20-foot-high Christmas tree from
Windsor Great Park will be adorned with thousands of sparkling lights
and twinkling Garter stars. In the Waterloo Chamber, the 160ft long
dining table will be laid with a Garter-themed display of decorative
items from the Royal Collection.
The Semi-State Rooms, created as opulent private apartments for
George IV and now used by the Royal Family for o昀케cial entertaining,
are open to visitors for the winter months. The most lavish of these
rooms is the Crimson Drawing Room, where another resplendent
Christmas tree will be on display.
After exploring the State Apartments, visitors can treat themselves to
a festive menu in the Undercroft Café and browse for Christmas gifts
in the Castle’s shops. On selected dates in December, local school
and community choirs will perform carols beneath the Christmas tree
in St George’s Hall, while family activities throughout the Christmas
holidays will invite children to step back in time to experience a
Victorian Christmas.

1 TO 24 DEC | VARIOUS
Windsor and Eton Living Advent Calendar
This family favourite has become a must for locals in the town centre.
At 6.15pm promptly every evening there will be a minimum 15-minute
Christmas-themed performance at various locations around the town centre.
They could include songs, carols, music, poetry and even workshops, but like
a true advent calendar you will not know until you turn up what the surprise
is. There will also be the customary Christmas nibble or two to enjoy.

22 AND 23 DEC | ASCOT RACECOURSE
Howden Christmas Racing Weekend
In the countdown to Christmas, the Howden Christmas Racing Weekend
showcases top-quality, high stakes Jumps racing. Our most magical 昀椀xture
of the year includes festive traditions on the Saturday, a dedicated Family
Raceday, where young racegoers can enjoy an abundance of themed
activities to bring plenty of festive cheer, and even the chance to see Father
Christmas himself. The competition is set to be thrilling on the track across
both days, with Saturday’s racing headlined by the Grade 1 Howden Long
Walk Hurdle, one of Britain’s most prestigious long-distance hurdle races.
On both days, racegoers can also join us in traditional carol singing with
the Ascot brass band within the Grandstand. The weekend, jam-packed
with excitement is truly not one to be missed. Gather family and friends to
celebrate in style and enjoy the most valuable meeting of Ascot’s Jumps
season, as the Christmas holidays begin in earnest.
