From Quarry to Crate
Rajasthan is the main sandstone producing
region in India and accounts for 70% of the
country's total annual stone production,
which is around 6.5 million tons per year.
Almost all of the natural sandstone produced
is used domestically apart from around 7%
which is exported.
Of that 7%, the UK imports around 5% which
is in the region of 280,000 tonnes per year.
