Beef Innovator Of The Year: Colin Davidson
Colin Davidson, who first engaged youngsRPS

Highland Show some years back, took Gold in the
2021 Farmers Guardian British Farming Awards

of his family to breed pedigree Aberdeen Angus
cattle from their 405 hectare tenant farm on
Orkney, although traditional farming is in his
veins, sustainabile farming is his passion.
Colin operates a sucessful breeding prgramme,
developing top spec genetics of replacement cattle
and most of their own bulls. Approx 30 of these bulls
are sold each year.

better selection in future breeding programmes;

excluding bought in resources such as protein and
minerals with Carbon Trust assured methane reducing
additives. The family have developed farming methods to

use the land to its best potential, ensuring the reduction of
the carbon footprint of each kilo of beef they produce.

demonsatrated a willingness to change, invest and take
risks to improve his business and he has used innovation
based on sustainability which is already producing
results.”

Orcadian coastal farm, not least tenancy matters. Colin
say’s of Mike and youngsRPS, “I’ve been working with
youngsRPS for several years now and I wouldn’t hesitate
to recommend them.”
