Cub Roar Spring Summer 23 - Flipbook - Page 8
FROM THE DESK OF THE SENIOR DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR
C
ub Family,
Many of our Cubs are gaining
special experiences this summer
through camps, jobs and
volunteering, vacations, and extra time spent
with friends and family. Life doesn’t slow down
for this active group even when school is out,
and that energy is one of the qualities that
continues to make our school so strong!
I appreciate this opportunity to share just
a few of the many impactful moments you
made possible last school year. I also extend
my great appreciation to leaders who served
alongside you to bring these moments to life:
Andy Blumberg ‘98 and Michael Breard, Gerald
Furr Memorial Golf Classic co-chairs; Katie
Williams, Golden Gala chair; Ashley Granger,
Annual Appeal chair; and my ULS Foundation
colleagues, Megan Bourgeois and Aimée
Lemann.
Our newest tradition, the Golden Gala, netted
$215,000 and included 590 guests – outpacing
what was already an outstanding first year.
The Gerald Furr Memorial Golf Classic, honoring
late and longtime teacher and coach Gerald
Furr, netted more than $29,000.
On Giving Day, 702 families contributed
$85,393.17 to the U Fund and Tuition Assistance
Fund and we again won the LSU university-wide
power hour.
The Annual Appeal broke records again, raising
more than $587,000.
Special thanks and recognition for our amazing
chair, Robin Toups. Robin understood that
the success of the ULS Foundation depends
on a strong partnership between staff and
volunteers. She has led in the most meaningful
way, with unwavering advocacy for the Lab
School and the mission of the ULS Foundation.
I am so incredibly grateful for the tremendous
impact our outgoing Cub Club Chair Laura
Heroman has made this school year. Laura
fulfilled this role while accepting a teaching
assistant position with the Lab School. Thank
you for your leadership and commitment to our
parents and faculty. Although it is bittersweet
to have Laura’s term come to a close, we are
excited to share that Sara Exner Whittaker ’00
has accepted the role of Cub Club Chair for
2023-24.
A special thank you to Stuart Gilly ’98, Katie
Goodson, Andi Kirkpatrick, Mike Lloyd,
