OUR TOCQUEVILLE SOCIETY
United Way of Metropolitan Nashville’s Tocqueville Society Alpha Chapter boasts a group of more than
400 philanthropic leaders. The Alpha Chapter, founded in Nashville by Dr. Thomas F. Frist, Jr. and 27
other generous philanthropists in 1981, ranks top in membership worldwide among all cities similar in
size. Through annual gifts of $10,000 or more, members create a strong foundation and inspire others
to make a similar commitment, ensuring that United Way continues to improve lives for our most
vulnerable neighbors.
