REGISTRATION GUIDE
STUDENT REGISTRATION
To register for an Apprenticeship/Craft Training Program (ACTP),
applicants must complete the Apprenticeship/Craft Training
Registration Forms. All completed registration forms can be mailed,
faxed, e-mailed, or personally delivered to ABCIL.
BENEFITS OF ACCREDITED CLASSROOM TRAINING
ABCIL is an Accredited Training Sponsor of the NCCER and utilizes
its standardized training and credentialing program for the industry.
A typical ACTP course encompasses 144 hours of classroom and
laboratory training annually.
Trainees receive transferable credentials issued by NCCER including
transcripts, certificates and an initial wallet card that are tracked
through the NCCER Registry System upon each level completion.
BENEFITS OF REGISTERED APPRENTICESHIP
ABCIL’s Apprenticeship Training Programs are registered with
the U.S. Department of Labor, Office of Apprenticeship (DOLOA). This affiliation gives trainees the opportunity of becoming a
registered apprentice with DOL-OA. In order to qualify, a trainee is
obligated to complete a separate application and monitoring process
and must have an employer sponsor.
A registered apprentice is required to complete approximately
2,000 hours of On-The-Job-Training (OJT) annually through their
employer supplemented by the Apprenticeship Training Program.
The OJT component includes progressively increasing apprentice
wages correlated with the relevant craft journeyman hourly rate.
Contractors who use registered apprentices on prevailing wage
projects are only required to pay the apprentice wage rather than the
normal prevailing wage. On most state-funded construction projects,
contractors are required to employ registered apprentices in order to
qualify to bid the project.
Upon completion of their apprenticeship (generally four years),
a registered apprentice receives an Apprenticeship Certificate of
Completion issued by DOL-OA, and is recognized nationally as a
qualified journeyman in their respective craft.

Attendance and punctuality are vital to the success of any training.

each instructor. Apprentices/craft trainees are responsible for

to make up any absences. Students and their employers will be
notified within ten days of an absent occurrence. Please note: two
tardies will constitute as one class absence
