Engaging Educational Partners
A summary of the process used to engage educational partners and how this engagement was considered before finalizing the LCAP.
The ABC Unified School District used established structures to effectively communicate and engage key stakeholders in the Local Control
Accountability Plan (LCAP). The Board of Education, district and site level administrators, teachers, parents/guardians, students, employee
groups, and community members were engaged in developing, reviewing, and supporting the implementation of the LCAP. This process
involved numerous meetings with representatives from each educational partner group meaningfully engaged in the LCAP process.
Consistent and equitable approaches were used to provide opportunities for continuous stakeholder participation Following is a brief
description of the stakeholder groups and a schedule of their frequent and timely participation in the LCAP process.
The Board of Education was provided the Supplement to the Annual Update on February 15, 2022. This provided the board and community
with a mid-year update on the progress with LCAP goals.
Meetings with educational partners were held in person and in a virtual meeting using ZOOM to gather input used to determine the actions
and services being recommended for the 2022-23 school year. Educational partners included the following: site principals and administrators,
ABC Unified employee groups (both certificated and classified), students from elementary, middle, and high school (Student Voice Forums),
cabinet and board members, parent groups such as LCAP PAC and EL-LCAP, and Strategic Planning Committee. The District took all the
necessary actions to meet statutory requirements for stakeholder engagement with representatives of parents and guardians of pupils.
Stakeholders received advance notice and access to the presentation prior to each meeting. Bilingual interpreters were available at the
LCAP PAC and EL LCAP PAC and Board meetings. Participants received English and/or Spanish versions of the PowerPoint presentations
prior to each meeting. Spanish interpreters were provided at meetings that included family and community members. The Superintendent's
designee, Assistant Superintendent - Academic Services, responded in writing to comments and input from the LCAP PAC and EL-LCAP
PAC. The LCAP, and feedback document to submit comments, were posted on the District website; stakeholder groups were notified of the
option to respond at the meeting or submit a written response. The link to the website provided the public access to the LCAP and feedback
document, located together at the website.
The LCAP has been integrated into a continuous system of communication and support. The District engaged stakeholders in developing,
implementing, and monitoring the LCAP. The LCAP document indicates targeted resources to support increased and improved outcomes for
unduplicated pupils, related to the state priorities. Board of Education: Board meeting dates and agendas are posted on the District website.
A community survey is posted on the District website for written public comments to be heard during Board meetings. An announcement is
also provided during all Board meetings notifying participants of the opportunity to make public specific to the actions and expenditures in the
LCAP. Board meetings are held bi-monthly, except for monthly meetings in August, December, and April; the Board does not meet in July.
Board action taken on items related to the LCAP allows the Board to continuously be involved in the LCAP development, review, and
implementation. The agenda for LCAP Public Hearing was posted 72 hours prior to the June 6, 2022 Board Meeting. On June 21, 2022, the
Board will take action on the Proposed 2021-24 Local Control Accountability Plan Year-Two.
