Goals and Actions
Goal
Goal #
1
Description
Ensure student access to fully credential teachers, highly trained paraeducators and school staff who are skilled at
addressing learning deficits and capable of creating the conditions for students with challenging needs to succeed,
academically and socio-emotionally, in a safe, clean and maintained learning environment. (Priority 1)
An explanation of why the LEA has developed this goal.
The success of students who are underperforming due to academic and/or socio-emotional deficients requires skilled, knowledgeable, fully
credentialed teachers, who are appropriately assigned, and who rely on the analysis of data to differentiate instruction using core and
supplemental instructional materials. Students from low income backgrounds, foster care, and those experiencing homelessness are more
susceptible to traumatic experiences that forge barriers to their academic performance. Lack of resources further exacerbates the learning
gap and requires different approaches to meet students needs. Smaller class sizes at the formative grade level allows for increased targeted
instructions for students with the greatest academic needs. Ensuring teachers who are new to the teaching profession have the skills to
reach and teach this student group remains a district priority. An enriched learning environment provides stability and creates conditions
where students can focus on learning and feel safe.
