Goals and Actions
Goal
Goal #
5
Description
Implement a cohesive multi-tiered support system that creates the conditions for students from low-income backgrounds,
foster care, and experiencing homelessness to access the basic resources and social-emotional supports they need to
demonstrate positive behavior, and attend school daily - prepared to respond appropriately while meaningfully engaged in
learning. (Priority 5 & 6)
An explanation of why the LEA has developed this goal.
Students from low-income backgrounds, foster care, and experiencing homelessness who are chronically absent from school are not fully
accessing the content required to demonstrate the level of standards mastery needed to promote grades and graduate from high school in
four years. Barriers to attending school daily are addressed by connecting families to the basic supplies (eg. food, clothing, and housing
vouchers) needed for their students to engage safely in a positive learning environment. Absences due to suspension also hinder students'
academic success. A multi-tiered support system diversifies the level of support students receive to develop socially acceptable behaviors
and responses when faced with challenging situations. School staff uses the survey results from the California Healthy Kids Survey and
California School Parents to assess the effectiveness and areas of improvement in their multi-tiered support system.
