District Coordinator,
Pupil Support
Services &
Attendance to
Address Chronic
Absenteeism
To support the reduction of chronic absenteeism rates and improve
the attendance of chronically absent low-income students, the
Coordinator of Pupil Support Services and Attendance (CPSSA) will
identify and monitor district data for chronically absent youth, provide
data to school site administrators, and work with low-income students,
parents and school teams to develop and ensure that intervention
plans are in place to remedy chronic absenteeism for the targeted
group of students. The CPSSA will track for improved attendance
progress of chronically absent students and intervene when supports
are not proving successful in increasing the low-income students'
attendance rate. Additionally, the District Social Worker (DSW) will
meet weekly with the site-based MHPs to monitor the attendance of
targeted chronically absent students who are on their caseload.
