The ABC District Technology Department offered a parent academy, hosted video meetings, and provided guidelines for the use of
technology at home and school for parents and families. The ParentSquare App allows parents and families to receive distinct school
notifications via email, text, or phone with immediate access to PDFs, announcements, and/or google documents regarding news from their
school. In addition, the IT department hosted daily live technical support available 7:30 a.m.-to 6:00 p.m. for parents and families to ask
questions to ensure that their students could access the internet during hybrid teaching. The Communication Officer provided a newsletter
delivered via ParentSquare and direct mailing provided information regarding events and good news to parents and families. In 2020-21, 51
newsletters were distributed throughout the District. To enhance the newsletters, the Communication Officer also maintained a social media
account. Over 488 postings were made available to parents and families during the 2020-21 school year. Parents of students with special
needs are invited to all of the activities/meetings done at the school sites (same as the general education students).
During the 2020-21 school year, the Special Education department held a meeting with the Community Advisory Committee (CAC) meetings
to engage our parents and families. CAC holds periodic meetings during the school year to review and discuss all aspects of special
education. Feedback is important to engage our parents and families. The Director of School Services department offered the California
Healthy Kids Survey and the California School Parent Survey to all students, parents, and families for feedback regarding school and family
connectivity. All parents in the District had the opportunity to speak to the actions and services occurring for their student(s).
Special Programs department engaged with parents and families via the Title I and Title III surveys. Parents and families were sent the
survey via google survey as well as personal phone calls. Engagement of EL Parents and Guardians is important in ABCUSD and the District
seeks this engagement in various ways. Each year the District administers the EL Parent Needs Assessment Survey to families of English
Learner students. This survey is designed to measure parent perceptions on their ability to participate in decision-making processes at the
schools their children attend, whether or not they feel their students are supported as English learners, feedback on topics they are interested
in learning more about, and their overall satisfaction with the ELD Program at the school sites. The most recent administration of the English
learner Parent Needs Assessment Survey took place in March 2022. In addition to the needs assessment, the District regularly hosted the
District English Language Advisory Committee (DELAC) meetings. To date, there were five meetings scheduled during the school year.
Topics presented at these virtual meetings included EL identification and notification procedures, sharing of EL data with regard to ELPAC
test scores and information about EL progress in the District. Parents participated in the EL Needs Assessment Survey. The survey results
are used to support programs in the upcoming year and are topics included in the DELAC meetings.

ABC is committed to engage with parents and families across the district to provide opportunities for meaningful two-way communication and
will continue the virtual, in-person, digital and print communication efforts used this year. Additional metrics on student, parent and staff
