2021 22 DALC AnnualReport for FLIPBOOK - Flipbook - Page 18
This past year was full of energy, creativity, and laughter as
we navigated our way through the worst of the pandemic.
They say “a picture is worth a thousand words.” Well, I am
happy to report “volumes” happened at Wesley Woods
during the 2021 year. I enjoy taking photos to capture
special moments, and the residents can attest, I take tons!
As director, it has been a privilege to get to know this special
group of people (including pets), and many family members,
and to develop trusted relationships based on listening and
mutual respect. I have been so fortunate this past year to
work closely with the Wesley Woods Steering Committee – a
bright, dedicated group of residents who truly care about the
community and all who reside in it. Together we have worked
on several improvement projects to create positive change
and I am most appreciative. Last fall, the roads and resident
driveways were seal coated, giving Wesley Woods community
a beautiful finished look.
There is a caring and appreciation for each other and a
real sense of gratitude as activities and community potluck
gatherings have increased. Wesley Woods residents really
know how to enjoy being together and they celebrate
with food, fun, and laughter. The joy is evident.
Our residents are always on the go and engaged with varied
activities, outings, committees, and volunteer opportunities.
The newly formed “Wesley Woods Giving Tree Committee”
supports different local organizations in need each month.
We have a tremendous number of residents who volunteer
within our community as well. The “We Got This” directory
is a resource for neighbors helping neighbors in all kinds of
ways which support aging in place. This unique community
of residents is the true embodiment of a real “old-fashioned
neighborhood.”
As I approach my one-year anniversary with NEDA and Wesley
Woods, there is much to be proud of as we look forward with
optimism and excitement to the new year ahead.
