Certified Nursing Assistant/
Geriatric Nursing Assistant
(CNA/GNA)
This course series prepares
students to meet the Maryland Board
of Nursing requirements as both a
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and
a Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA).
Nursing Assistants work in various
health care settings and learn basic
patient care skills, their role as a
member of a healthcare team, disease
processes, infection control, and
safety procedures. The course series
is located at BioPark and includes
clinical experience off site.
Course Sequence
• Medical Terminology (24 hours)
• CNA Theory (96 hours)
• CNA Clinical (40 hours)
• CPR (8 hours)

Health Care Programs
With Clinical Requirements
* All programs requiring a clinical
experience require the following
clearances prior to entry to a
healthcare facility:
• A negative Tuberculosis skin test
(PPD) or clear chest X-ray if PPD
results were previously positive.
PPD results must be no more
than 12 months old when clinical
rotation starts.
• Proof of measles, mumps, and
rubella (MMR) immunizations or
positive titre and the Tdap vaccine.
• Proof of completion of Hepatitis B
vaccination series or a signed
declination waiver releasing the
College and clinical site of any
legal or medical responsibilities
resulting from exposure to the
Hepatitis virus.
• Proof of varicella immunization
or positive titre.
• Proof of influenza vaccination
(seasonal).
• Proof of COVID-19 vaccination
(or waiver).
• Pass a federal & state background
check, required by the MD Board
of Nursing.
