Alvin C. York National Park
By Jackson Walker, Student ECCA
In Pall Mall Tennessee, Alvin C. York National Park hosts a World War
1 fair. In the fair they had multiple vendors showing and selling relics
from the first World War. They had multiple workshops and seminars
on The Great War. In one workshop they showed off several weapons
from the First World War including bayonets, pistols, and several types
of rifles from multiple countries. They also had a fun workshop of
making your own dog tag. The fair wasn9t the only cool part, the
venue, Alvin C. York National Park, they had a mini museum on Alvin
and had his home and his gristmill. You can also get a look at what the
trenches in World War 1 might have looked like with replica trenches
built behind the barn. You can also see his burial site on his property,
but when we went it was closed. In the Visitors center you can find this
mini museum along with souvenirs and World War 1 era gum and
candy. In the fair they also had a replica plane from the First World
War that was 80% the size of the plane they were replicating. Along with the plane they had a nice Model-T Ford. With
the fair they had historical reenactors who were apart of the Pall Mall Doughboys, a reenactment group based in Pall Mall,
and they provided stories and information for people at the expo. You can find them on Instagram @pallmalldoughboys.
