Hymns from our Childhood 3 Jesus Loves Me!
As I have said many times before, as the days pass by I tend to go back in my memories to my childhood and tonight I
was thinking about my Sunday School teacher and some of the songs we would sing in her classroom. Jesus loves me has
a special place in my heart. Every week our teacher would tell us how much Jesus loved us, each, and every one of us.
However, it was not just Sundays that she taught us how much Jesus loved us, she taught us about his love Monday
through Friday at our little community school, she taught first through fourth grades. I was fortunate that she was not only
my Sunday School teacher, but she was also my schoolteacher, my GA Director, my neighbor, and a dear friend of my
mother.
Mrs. Humphrey taught us by her words, her deeds, and her actions so I grew up knowing that God loved me, a little girl
that grew up in the mountains, no different from any of the other little kids in my community, Mrs. Humphrey let us all
know that she loved us, and God loved us.
Jesus loves me! This I know. For the Bible tells me so. Little ones to Him belong. They are weak, but He is strong. Yes,
Jesus loves me. The Bible tells me so.
Did you sing this song when you were a child? I cannot carry a tune, but it is not about getting everything perfect, it is
about knowing God loves you. I loved singing this song in Sunday School. This song brings a smile to my face and
memories of Mrs. Humphrey. What are your favorite Christian children9s songs?
John 15: 6-12
6. If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire,
and they are burned.
7, If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
8. Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.
9, As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.
10. If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide
in his love.
11. These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.
12. This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.
