This was written for a dear friend in Florida that has been
preaching for close to fifty years. It pretty well describes several
others of similar circumstances. I9m sure we all know of similar
individuals. Stanley
The Old Preacher Man
It9s said that idle hands
Are the devils tools
And there are aplenty amongst us mortal fools
That give him the tools he needs
To perform his enticingly seductive deeds
But As busy as you seem to stay
You9re not helping satan work on much today
For you keep his tools just out of reach
When you go about your day and Gods glory and merciful grace you preach
Either by word or by action or deeds
Doing for others, seeing to their needs
I9m sure everyone appreciates your efforts very much
As you go about your day, delivering message of His loving touch
As you see to the downtrodden or the ill
Helping others to accept his will
You9ve well reached the time of life
To retire, enjoy your grandkids and travel with your wife
But something seems to be keeping you around
Could it be the thought of one more lost soul to be found?
Many decades you9ve been devoted to spreading the word
Thousands of people, your testimony and sermons, they have heard
Yes for sure you9ve done your duty, your obligation ,
But wait, there might be one more you can help to accept salvation
