On some days there would be a shucking party going on
Kids pulling the husks off that corn
Then dad or some other fella
Would run the ears thru the corn sheller
Those corn kernels, a sack would soon be filled
And that sack be taken to be milled
The shucks might be crafted into baskets or doll, leaving only the
cob And that might be placed in the outhouse for a cleansing job!
The early pioneer life does have its allure
But was busy and hard at times I am sure
Families were often large and very close to one another
And life depended on the hard work and skills of father and
mother
On around the cove we now go
Hoping for more of nature9s show
Just around the curve mother nature will yield
A few wild turkeys strutting in a field
Next field we look right at the tree line
And a few deer eating acorns we will find
Slip on around a curve and < what9s that
