Staff Sergeant Conrad J. Hembree was born on January 19, 1924, in Tuckaleechee, Tennessee. He was the son Mary
Jane Abbott and John Lewis Hembree. Mary and John were buried at Coker Hill Chapel Cemetery, now named
Tuckaleechee Primitive Baptist. He enlisted for military service on February 13, 1943, in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia. He
served in the Pacific Theater in the 64th Bomber Squadron, 43rd Bomber Group, Heavy. He was killed in action on
Tuesday, June 13, 1944, and is memorialized at Manila American Cemetery in Fort Bonifacio, Manila, Philippines. He
was awarded an Air Medal with an Oak Leaf Cluster and a Purple Heart. Information provided by Conrad9s nephew inlaw, Stanley Turnmire.
Elijah "Lige" Hatcher was born on 10 July 1798 in Walland, Tennessee. He married Rebecca Walker on August 6,
1819. They had 15 plus children in 32 years of marriage. At 66 years of age, Elijah Hatcher was too old to fight as a
soldier in the war. He did serve on the Homefront Guard and was shot and killed by Rebel bushwhackers in Miller's Cove
in Blount County, Tennessee while he was out chopping firewood. He died on February 19, 1864 at the age of 70, Elijah
was the son of Mary Crowson and William Hatcher and the husband of Rebecca Walker. Elijah and Rebecca are both
buried in Miller's Cove Cemetery, Blount County, Tennessee. He is listed on the War Monument on the lawn of the Blount
County Courthouse as a casualty of the Civil War. Information provided by his 3rd great-granddaughter, Linda Kay

Samuel A. Humphrey, son of Rosa Ann Hatcher and James Humphrey. He was born on 14 March 1921 in Blount,
Tennessee. Samuel enlisted for military service on September 7, 1942, in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia. He was killed in
action on Anzio Beachead in Italy on July 12, 1944, and is buried in Keeble Cemetery in Walland Tennessee. Information

John Anderson Farmer was born on 9 November 1843, in Blount, Tennessee, his parents were Rebecca Keeble and
Solomon Farmer. He had four brothers and two sisters. John perished on the Sultana in Memphis, on 7 April 1865, in
Memphis, Tennessee, at the age of 21. Information provided by his first cousin, 4X removed, Linda Kay Baker.
Fred Joseph Henry was born on 21 December 1921 in Blount County Tennessee, He died on November 19, 1945. Tec 5
HQ Co Base & Motor Pool. Fred was the son Oma Nichols and Roy Henry. He died serving his country during World
