Craftsmen
For you craftsmen, who work with your heart and hands
Creating things of functional beauty all across our lands
Good eye and steady hand
Keep doing it while you can
One day, far far too quick
It will be more difficult to pull this trick
Your hands will be a bit shaky for sure
And your sight also will not endure
But as I have so often been told
It’s just a part of getting old
But no need of feeling down or sad
You’re still here, of that we can be glad
The things you have created while you were here
Will be used and loved for many a year
Linda, you are a craftsman of words gathered in print
Often telling of how days of long ago were spent
Of all the childhood friends and close kin
And thoughts of how nice would be to live it again
But we all are very much aware
That only in our memories can we return there
And you have taken the reins to try and preserve
The recognition those memories deserve
Yes we appreciate your efforts and we all thank you ever so much
For reigniting those memories of days gone by with your talented touch
