2018 CCOC Education Committee and
Highlights
COMMITTEE CHARGE
CCOC is committed to education. The CCOC Education Committee is
focused on public and private education advocacy. They achieve this
by cultivating relationships with and supporting Clayton’s Pre-K-12
schools, selecting monthly and annual CCOC Super Star Teacher award
recipients, and overseeing education presentations and mentoring
programs.
Powhatan Elementary Teacher Kimberly Ellison
Named 2018 Super Star Teacher of the Year—
Super Star teachers demonstrate excellence
and leadership in their classroom, creativity and
motivation of their students, and show a high
level of commitment to our community. The
award was presented at CCOC’s Annual Meeting
& Community Awards Ceremony.

ACTION
Rebranded and redeveloped the INSPIRE
mentoring program for Clayton Middle
School to launch in 2019.
RECOGNITION
Presented nine Super Star Teacher of the Month
awards throughout the school year to Clayton
schools and awarded Super Star Teacher of the
Year at CCOC’s Annual Meeting & Community
Awards Ceremony.
ENGAGEMENT
Represented Clayton to receive Town of Clayton
proclamation celebrating the Week of the
Young Child.
Attended the North Carolina Chamber
Education Summit.
Served on the Johnston Public Schools Career
& Technical Education Advisory Board.
