LETTER FROM
THE CHAIRMAN
2022 was a year of transitions, optimism, and gratitude. It has been an absolute pleasure to work with
our volunteers, staff, and board members to build a better future for the individuals who depend on our
services to get back on their feet. We have been fortunate to have Peter T. Pruitt, Jr. our former board
chair, lend his guidance and stellar leadership during the past year as Interim President and CEO. His
contribution has been invaluable.
As we recap the year, I want to express my thanks for the leadership of our board members and our
staff’s dedication and hard work. Together we have worked hard to serve more than 800 families and
individuals each and every day while providing pathways out of homelessness and into self-sufficiency
with the solemn hope of rewriting their narratives. To date, we have expanded our reach to more than
135,000 individuals and families served since inception. Thanks to the dedication and hard work of our
staff, volunteers, and supporters, we have been able to continue making a difference in the lives of those
experiencing homelessness on the streets of Miami.
As some of you already know, Alvah H. Chapman, Jr. was a remarkable mentor and friend who had an
incredible impact on my life. He guided me on my path to becoming a community leader and encouraged
me to use my talents to help others. His passion for making the world a better place inspired me to get
involved with this amazing cause, and I am forever grateful for his guidance. His legacy and incredible
accomplishments have been embedded in our mission and will be remembered for years to come.
As we continue moving forward, in alignment with The Miami-Dade County Homeless Trust, we are
creating more effective programming and comprehensive services tailored specifically for those in
need, enabling them to establish a steady way of life once more. Together, we are also addressing the
significant issues of cost and affordability in housing that lie ahead, something that our employment and
housing teams are actively working on. I am thrilled to be part of this expansion, powered by strategic
collaborations and partnerships.
We have come a long way, and with our collective efforts, Chapman Partnership has become stronger
than ever. Every day our doors are open, we are accomplishing our shared vision for this organization, and
we are only just getting started. There are still plenty of great stories that are yet to be written.
Together, we CAN and WILL find a way to end homelessness in our community.
Sincerely,
EDWARD J. JOYCE
CHAIRMAN, EXECUTIVE BOARD
