WELCOME TO
Feel the Joy Magazine
SPRING 2022 ISSUE
to the spring 2022 issue of
Feel the Joy Magazine. If you’re located in the
Midwest, I’m sure you are all just as excited
as I am for the arrival of spring, and to our
friends in Tampa, I hope you have enjoyed the
warmer temps and sunshine this winter for all
of us. No matter what your climate is, I hope
this issue finds you and your loved ones healthy
and well and that the first few months of 2022
have been good for all of you. This is the first
issue launching our new look and feel for the
magazine, and as always, I hope that you will find
the articles useful, interesting, and entertaining.
WELCOME TO
My family and I love the change of seasons here
in Minnesota. Some of our favorite activities
to do in the spring are roller blading, biking,
and hiking. We always try to do these activities
around the numerous lakes in Minnesota, as it is
the state of 10,000 lakes! I’m especially looking
forward to biking with our youngest—who is
five—this year because he’s getting his very first
bike! Normally he rides on an extension with
either myself or my wife, Aksana, but this year,
he’s going to be cruising along with the rest of the
family!
With spring typically comes “spring cleaning”
of the home for a lot of families, mine included.
One of our main “spring cleaning” objectives is
to get rid of anything that is no longer bringing
us joy. Us parents know how difficult it can be to
get kids to participate in the decluttering process,
so I have a couple tips that have made it more
rewarding for my own. Our kids are given a
couple of options for what to do with their items
that are no longer bringing them joy. For example,
they can sell them on eBay, craigslist, and/or
Facebook Marketplace so they’re able to make
some money in the process; they can choose to
donate items to Goodwill or a charity; or they can
choose to recycle these items if they’re in poor
condition. Because of this, my wife and I have
given them what we call “accounting books” so
they’re able to keep track of their money while
also keeping the value of things they have top
of mind. With the money they make, they get
to decide how to allocate it into three different
buckets, which are investment, entertainment,
and giving back/gifts. We do this to avoid having
an overabundance of “stuff.”
As I mentioned in the winter issue, my family
and I make it a priority to plan out our vacations
and quality time at the start of the year to ensure
we make memories together before we blink
and our kids are grown up with their own lives.
So, this year for spring break, my wife and I are
taking the kids to Hawaii before the busy real
estate season picks up!
I’m also looking forward to my next semester
back on the Harvard campus this June! I’ll be
spending three weeks in Boston learning about
global markets, leadership, negotiation,
strategy, and so much more from some
of my peers from all over the world.
It’s always a wonderful experience,
and it was one of my highlights of
2021, so I’m excited to head back
for more.
Spring has officially sprung
here in Minnesota, and as
much as my family and I
enjoy the winter activities,
it’s always nice to see
everything blooming

and coming to life again. We can’t wait to get
back on our bikes and rollerblades! What do you
and your family look forward to in the spring?
On that note, whether you’ve had warm weather
all year or are finally breaking out of the winter
wonderland, I hope you enjoy the spring
season!
My very best,
