ANDERSON
The City of Anderson is the northernmost
community of the Denali Borough. The turn for
this community is at mile 283.5 Parks Highway,
56.5 miles north of the entrance to Denali
National Park and Preserve.
Anderson’s roots begin at the homestead of
Arthur Anderson who arrived in the area in
the late 1950s. On June 2, 1962, the town of
Anderson was officially established with Mr.
Anderson subdividing and selling his property.
Most lots were sold to civilian workers from
nearby Clear Air Force Station (today known
as Clear Space Force Station), and members of
all local communities continue to work at this
station today.
Today, most visitors to Anderson come to camp
at Anderson Riverside Park. The park is a quiet,
pretty campground with spacious sites and
restroom facilities. Anderson Riverside Park
also has a community shooting range. This is a
popular place for families to target practice and
sight-in their scopes before hunting season.
There is access to the Nenana River at Riverside
Park. Local rafting enthusiasts enjoy floating

because this portion of the river has no rapids.
There are also many trails for recreational ATV
use. These trails begin near the town, so be sure
to respect federal and private property signs. The
367 residents of the community appreciate safe,
responsible riding.
Local services include a post office, library and
state Division of Motor Vehicles office. If you visit
Anderson, come prepared with groceries and
necessities as the closest stores are in Nenana
(26 miles) and Healy (33 miles).
