DIMENSIONAL TOLERANCES
(Excerpt from FATH norm
)
. Tolerances for Materials Not Specified in this Standard
For materials not specified in this standard the general tolerances
from sec on . apply.
Deviant tolerances are declarated in the drawing.
. General Informa on about Tolerances at FATH
(…)
. . Tolerances on dimensions and shapes as well as on surfaces are
to regard each separately (Principle of Independence according to EN
ISO
)
. . CAD data sets and drawings, except for asymmetric tolerance
specifica ons, comply with the nominal geometry dimensions.
. . All dimensions with general tolerances are excluded from the
test report.
For plas c parts, DIN EN ISO
defines a standard climate for measuring: °C ± K und
% ± % rela ve air humidity.
In the tle block:
“Tolerances according to ISO

is indicated.
. . For the measurement of radii, ° or more of the circle segment
has to be accessible for measurement.
. . Posi onal tolerances are no general tolerances. If func onality
requires so, these are indicated directly in the drawing and have to be
measured.
. Rejec on
“Unless otherwise stated, workpieces exceeding the general
tolerance shall not lead to automa c rejec on provided that the
ability of the workpiece to func on is not impaired. The tolerance the
func on allows is o en greater than the general tolerance.
The func on of the part is, therefore, not always impaired when
the general tolerance is (occasionally) exceeded at any feature of the
workpiece. Exceeding the general tolerance should lead to a
rejec on of the workpiece only if the func on is impaired.”
