“The official submission
for the Nordic Angel
Program together with
EstBAN, DanBAN, BAN
Norway, and NordicBAN
was submitted in the
Horizon2020 EU funding call. The submission
was sent last minute
- in true fashion - from
a sailing boat, just minutes before the deadline.
Thus began FiBAN’s first
two-year EU-funded
project.”
In November, FiBAN was awarded the Internationalisation Award of the President of the Republic. The award
highlighted all the significant drivers rooted in FiBAN’s
DNA: a passion to strengthen the Finnish business environment and boost internationalization, employment,
and innovation. The award is granted each year to Finnish companies that have gained international success,
and to the communities behind them.

FiBAN’s year 2017 was full of twists and turns: awards,
developing best practices, as well as changes in the
office. In the fall, FiBAN’s first Managing Director Jan
D. Oker-Blom stepped into new challenges and Reidar
Wasenius was appointed the second Managing Director
of FiBAN. Another fundamental change in the office was
when FiBAN’s first employee Claes-Mikko Nilsen left
FiBAN to build NordicBAN and Heidi Tawast joined the
office as the new Community Manager.
2017 was also full of events, trainings, and networking: above Elina
Lepomäki presenting at Angel Day, hosted by KPMG.
