Turning 10 feat.
COVID-19
“COVID-19 forced us to
rethink our operations,
as events and gatherings
were moved online
at warp-speed. New
ways of working had
to be invented and
implemented.”
Amel Gaily, Managing Director
Remote style weekly meetings became the norm for the FiBAN office.
In the spring of 2020, the FiBAN board outlined a new
strategy to guide FiBAN in the upcoming years. The strategy was around our four key stakeholders: members,
startups, partners, and the ecosystem.
“In ten years, FiBAN
has become Europe’s
leading business
angel network. This
great achievement is
accompanied by a big
responsibility: It is the
pioneer’s role to set
an example in further
raising the level of
activity. ”
Several initiatives were launched to meet these goals: FiBAN Founders Club to support FiBAN member’s portfolio
companies, FiBAN Morning Talks to share timely trends
and views, FiBAN Academy Online bringing our educational offering to a digital format, and FiBAN’s Data Compass
bringing our decade of data in an interactive form.
FiBAN Founders Club launch at Maria 10 was organized with strict safety
measures: social distance, masks and hand sanitizers.
FiBAN Board meeting in November was arranged in hybrid mode.

Due to the restrictions aiming to handle the pandemic, all
travel - both international and domestic - was brought to a
minimum. This didn’t hinder FiBAN’s large presence as online opportunities gained participants from all over Finland
and neighboring countries and other parts of the world.
The only event that had to be postponed was FiBAN’s
10-year Gala celebrations which will now take place in
the fall of 2021.
