Support & Advising
Even if you’re venturing out on your own for the first time, you don’t have to
face college alone. At SCC, you have a team of dedicated professionals to
support you no matter what. Whether you want help choosing classes, career
guidance or just someone to talk to, we have your back.
Academic & Career Advising
Every SCC student is assigned two advisors who
stick with them through their entire time at SCC.
This offers each enrolled student a high level of
support along the journey to their career. One
advisor is a College Advisor and the other is
a Program Advisor. Each provides insight and
guidance to ensure you get the most out of your
SCC experience.
College Advisor
• Clarifies and confirms your academic path
and career choice.
• Advises you through New Student
Enrollment, your first semester and
subsequent terms as needed.
• Serves as an ongoing success coach.
Program Advisor
• Provides detailed advising for your specific
area of study.
• Offers expert mentoring as you explore
career options.
• Guides class schedule creation.
Career Services
Mental Health Resources
From your first day on campus to the day you
graduate, our Career Services Specialists will help
you succeed. The Career Services Offices on all
three campuses will give you insight into different
career fields and jobs while also helping you find
part-time employment while you study at SCC.
Through the Counseling Assistance Program for
Students (CAPS), all SCC students can access free
counseling and support groups. College—and life—
can be difficult, especially in unusual times, and
we work hard to give students every opportunity
to receive mental health support so they can
thrive on their path to possible.
The SCC JobConnect portal is yours to use as
a student and graduate, giving you access to
easily apply for jobs, internships and cooperative
experience opportunities.
