Your Dreams
The rst step to making dreams come true is to write them down. Ana, your dreams are: retire / work only because I
want to , travel the world, spend time with my family , own a boat, live abroad, own a second home, freedom to do
anything I want, give generously to causes I support, pay for college (children / grandchildren) , spend more time
with my friends, own my dream house . This is a great list. Who wouldn't want that?
You likely have many more dreams. But, you know what? I believe that all of your dreams really come down to one
single dream. You dream of freedom.
In fact, I asked you about freedom a number of different ways and Ana, you were consistent. This is common. Most
people would like freedom to not have to work, freedom to do what they want, freedom to travel. Freedom is
awesome!
Here was something interesting. I asked, "You get 100 dream points. How would you allocate them to the following
dreams? ("0" if one is not important to you)" You said:
Own things (cars, houses, etc): 20
Do things (travel, going out): 30
Freedom (whatever I want): 50
Freedom is not mutually exclusive to commitment to friends, family, loyalty, etc. Freedom lets you be committed. In
fact freedom (and, more speci cally, nancial freedom) enables you to focus on what is most important to you.
Imagine if you were a billionaire. Think about how committed you could be to your family, your friends, the causes
you support.
Part of it is the wording in the test, part of it is deep in your values. When you think about your dreams the idea of
"freedom" might be your single most important dream. Freedom needs to be the cornerstone of your decision
making. Ana, you must make decisions that give you more freedom and exibility. This is how both your dreams and
your goals will become a reality.
