MUSICAL ENTERTAINMENT
CARLOS CALVO
Carlos Calvo grew up surrounded by world-famous flamenco
and classical guitarists. Before embarking on his solo career,
Carlos fronted successful bands that toured with Bob Dylan,
Paul Simon, and Willie Porter. As a solo artist, he has toured
with The Bacon Brothers and Colin Hay, and he has performed
numerous times in Europe as a headliner. Carlos has original
songs in major motion pictures (She’s All That and Finding
Holden). In addition, Carlos played guitar on the score of King
of the Hill for three seasons, and has recorded numerous
tracks for commercials, up-and-coming bands, and a session
playing classical guitar with members of the L.A. Philharmonic.
ADAM CHESTER
Adam has been a musician since the age of 5. Since 2005,
Adam has been privileged to work with Sir Elton John and his
band, who fondly refer to him as the “Surrogate Elton.” Adam
has the distinct honor of sitting in for Elton John playing and
singing Elton’s parts for the band’s rehearsals. Adam has also
composed and arranged choir and string parts for various live
performances for Elton. He performed on piano with Elton
John’s band during the program “Elton John: I’m Still Standing
- A Grammy Salute” at Madison Square Garden, which aired
on CBS. While Elton proudly watched from the audience,
Adam played, accompanied by major artists including Miley
Cyrus, Lady Gaga, Kesha, Miranda Lambert, John Legend,
Little Big Town, Chris Martin, Marren Morris, Sam Smith, and
Keith Urban.
JAKE SHIMABUKURO
Over the past two decades, Jake Shimabukuro has proven
that there isn’t a style of music that he can’t play. What’s
remarkable about Jake’s transcendent skills is how he explores
his seemingly limitless musical vocabulary – whether it’s jazz,
rock, blues, bluegrass, folk or even classical – on perhaps the
unlikeliest of instruments: the ‘ukulele. The Hawai’i-born
virtuoso has taken the ‘ukulele to points previously thought
impossible, and reinvented the way that this tiny, heretofore
underappreciated four-string instrument is used in popular
music, causing many to call him “the Jimi Hendrix of the
‘ukulele.”
