very year, for the last 16 years,
we have gathered to recognize
outstanding organizations, communities,
and individuals who work to reduce waste
and recycle more in Hamilton County. Since
pulling 100 people together to eat
breakfast and talk about reducing garbage
would not be responsible this year, our
staff has created this special publication to
highlight the stories and achievements of
our award winners.
Ranging from a small urban farm that
rescues food to feed hungry neighbors to a
new library of things reducing the need to
buy items you only use once to a major
hospital ramping up their waste diversion
efforts, these stories not only inspire me
but also give me hope. No matter where
you work, attend school, or live your efforts
to reduce waste make a difference.
Hamilton County now diverts 56% of all of
our waste generated: an impressive
accomplishment. Pat yourself on the back
and let’s keep working together on the 44%
we have left to tackle.
