Full Spectrum CBD & the Entourage Effect
Some CBD oil products on the market are limited to
only CBD, which are call CBD Isolates. Other products
are called “full spectrum” or “broad spectrum” meaning it
contains more phytocannabinoids than just CBD. These
additional phytocannabinoids such as CBN, CBC, and
CBGA can aid in what is known as the “entourage effect”.
This is the scientific belief that cannabinoids have greater
therapeutic benefits when working together rather than
acting as a single molecule. The interaction of more than
one cannabinoid stimulates the endocannabinoid system
and the molecular interaction. Regularly use Full
Spectrum or Broad Spectrum CBD to achieve the
Entourage Effect that magnifies the therapeutic benefits of
the plant’s individual components. An easier way to put it
is: Isolate CBD is a short term but immediate result. Full
or broad spectrum CBD is for long term well being.
Terpenes
Terpenes are what makes aromatic odors. Various researchers have emphasized the pharmacological importance of terpenes, or terpenoids, which form the basis
of aromatherapy. Terpenes, it turns out, are healthy for
people as well as plants. A September 2011 report by Dr.
Ethan Russo published in the British Journal of
Pharmacology discussed the wide-ranging therapeutic
attributes of terpenoids, which are typically lacking in
“CBD Isolate” products.
Terpenoids and cannabinoids both increase blood flow,
enhance cortical activity, and kill respiratory pathogens,
including MRSA, the antibiotic-resistant bacteria that in
recent years has claimed the lives of tens of thousands
of Americans. Dr. Russo’s article reports that cannabinoid-terpenoid interactions “could produce synergy with
respect to treatment of pain, inflammation, depression,
anxiety, addiction, epilepsy, cancer, fungal and bacterial
infections.”
Is CBD Safe For Pets?
Just like humans, animals also have cannabinoid
receptors primarily in the brain and central nervous
system, making up their endocannabinoid system. This
system partially controls
inflammation, pain, motor
control, skin condition,
appetite, aggression, anxiety
and neurological disorders.
CBD binds to these endocannabinoid receptors,
causing a long-lasting response
with non-intoxicating effects.
THC (marijuana) on the other
hand, can be poisonous to pets.
It is therefore important to select a CBD product that is made
for pets. It is always a good idea to consult with your
veterinarian prior to giving your pet CBD.

Our endocannabinoid system (ECS) is a collection
of cell receptors in the human body and the bodies of all
mammals. They are naturally produced when we consume foods like fatty acids found in nuts and fish.
The ECS messengers tell our body to do certain things.
This internal system helps send the signals throughout
the body to regulate sleep, appetite, mood, motor control, immune function, pleasure, pain, reproduction and
fertility, memory and temperature regulation. When the
ECS is in balance, we experiences homeostasis... a stable
internal equilibrium.
CBD is a plant based phytocannabinoid that, when consumed, joins our ECS’s message center. Put more simply,
the messages found in CBD aid the human body’s ECS. It
is like a “hand shake” that can work together for our well
being.
When we are fighting off an ailment or illness, our biochemistry and ECS levels are altered. Thus, using a
product like CBD oil, may have the outcome of feeling
“normal” because the levels of the ECS are replenished.
In other words, when we consume CBD products, we are
increasing our endocannabinoid levels. However, no two
individuals are the same. What are the differences?

Our gender has a lot to do with the way CBD oil products
affect us. Generally speaking, women are more sensitive
to CBD because of the hormone estrogen. In turn, they
also experience more CBD benefits, such as pain relief.
However, a little will often go a long way when it comes
to women taking CBD. They often need a much lower
dosage than men or a much lower strength to experience
the same effects.
Our Lifestyle
If our diet is low in fatty acids, our ECS will be affected
more by CBD. CBD is a form of a fatty acid, so our body
will quickly absorb CBD when it lacks fatty acids. On the
flip side, a diet that is high in fatty acids may be less
sensitive in general to CBD.
Also, those who live a stressful lifestyle will respond
better to CBD, feeling more calm and relaxed. This occurs
because CBD causes serotonin production, which helps
make you happy and serene. Many people report a great
reduction to their stress levels from using CBD as a
supplement to their overall pursuit of health.
While CBD does work to repair your system, those without mental and physical ailments won’t feel these improvements. But even though you don’t feel CBD, understand this potent cannabis compound is still improving
your body and mind.
What is My Dosage?
An effective dosage can range from as little as a few
milligrams of CBD to 25 milligrams or more. Body
weight can determine the level of CBD that is best.
Read the label and follow the suggested dose.
Begin with a small dose of CBD oil, especially if you
are new to using the product. Take a few small doses
over the course of the day rather than one big dose.
Use the same dose and ratio for several days.
Observe the effects and if necessary adjust the ratio
or amount. Don’t overdo it. Small doses of CBD tend
to stimulate; large doses can relax.
CBD has no known adverse side effects, but an excessive amount of CBD could be less effective therapeutically than a moderate dose. “Less is more” is often
the case with respect to CBD.
